Senior citizens are the fastest growing population in the country, and the issues involved with growing old can be complex and challenging. How to perform proper estate planning, for example, might leave some seniors at a loss.
For the past 15 years, the Conejo/Las Virgenes Future Foundation has been helping to guide older citizens in their golden years. CLVFF recently hosted Senior Congress XV and more than 300 guests came to St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church in Oak Park to hear speakers address the 2019 theme, “Planning Ahead.”
Attendees heard presentations on topics including discarding unwanted objects, making a bucket list and creating a memoir for their loved ones.
Fran Brough, head of the Senior Congress planning committee, has been involved with the event since it started and said it’s proven to be one of the most popular events for seniors in the region.
“The program is a gem,” Brough said. “People get hooked on it. I see people who keep coming back. The advice we give to seniors is invaluable.”
